AJ Styles’ U.S. Title reign was unique in the Summer of 2017, seeing him only really playing hot potato with Kevin Owens. But this match from Hell in a Cell is the one that might stick out the most from the reign. The first thing to point out is how great Baron Corbin’s pre-King of the Ring theme which should make a comeback. Here we see the former Perfect 10 Tye Dillinger get his only time to shine in the main roster. The match begins with an athletic contest between Styles and Dillinger, but it becomes nitty-gritty and violent when Corbin enters the ring. One spot that features how great Styles can make his opponent look is when Corbin throws him through the bottom of the ring post—making it look so painful as fans gasp.

Dillinger and Styles have a fantastic sequence where fans see a one-of-a-kind tilt-a-whirl Styles Clash set up, but it’s the thorn of their sides Corbin who interrupts. Three men trade blows until all three lay on the floor as fans give a round of applause to these three athletes. Many may have thought that this was an easy night for Styles, but they believe The Perfect Ten could become U.S. Champion as the match progresses. But Corbin hits a giant boot knocking Styles out of the ring to win his first championship in the WWE. This match could have set up Dillinger into bigger things, but fans all know this was the pinnacle of Dillinger’s WWE career.
