Update on Top AEW Star’s Absence

All-Elite Wrestling began in 2019 and has attempted to change the wrestling scene by presenting an alternative for fans wanting something different from WWE. Tony Khan possessed his potential future stars and specifically targeted released WWE eminent names like CM Punk, Brian Danielson, Adam Cole, & recently Claudio Castagnoli. Somewhere along the way, AEW’s roster was affected positively and negatively concerning big-league signings & one brilliant wrestler whose absence became noticeable was MJF (Maxwell Jacob Friedman). Their relationship faced great animosity did Khan & MJF.

He missed the AEW Double Or Nothing pay-per-view fanfest. Reports came in about Friedman allegedly booking a flight out of Las Vegas before the show began. He had appeared and faced Wardlow that night. Supporters have not seen MJF on AEW programming. 

Fightful Select shared an update regarding why AEW’s top star is missing. Speaking to several wrestlers & staff members, they said they haven’t heard from Friedman since his pipebomb promo on the post-Double Or Nothing episode of Dynamite. Friedman’s close acquaintances admit that he hasn’t spoken with them. Tony Khan made no mention of MJF dating back to June 1st. Many claim this could be part of a wrestling angle, while others feel it’s a shoot.

One reason for an extended absence could be MJF pursuing a career in acting. Reports indicate that the three-time Dynamite Diamond Ring winner had stayed in Los Angeles for more non-wrestling-related television opportunities in Hollywood. Some rumors suggest the wrestler filmed an episode with cast members from Impractical Jokers in New Jersey. The impression among AEW wrestlers and fans is that MJF wants out of his contract so he can go to WWE.
