Merry Christmas from Wrestlebuddy! The professional wrestling world remains busy with the latest news concerning this holiday-filled week.
Let’s examine our five headlines for Christmas day; these rumors have the wrestling media & community talking.
Here’s what made the speculative list!!!
1. Cody Rhodes winning the Royal Rumble?
Initially, per Fightful Select & based on a Bleacher Report write-up: allegedly, Cody Rhodes did not fit into WWE’s Championship picture plans under Vince McMahon’s creative despite receiving an outstanding push since his return at WrestleMania.
Anytime fans wait for the Royal Rumble each year, discussion of notable returns dominates the rumored conversations. Rhodes had suffered a torn pectoral muscle injury & still wrestled Seth Rollins at June’s Hell in the Cell premium live event. A popular choice to win this historic match would unanimously be Cody Rhodes.
Now with Triple H taking the lead from McMahon. Those plans for Cody might change. Xero News shared additional information on the development. According to reports, WWE expressed that Cody is the company’s number-one choice to win the 2023 Men’s Royal Rumble match. We also need to credit Chris The Wrestling Insider for his report that Xero News had retreated. Xero News says “ The American Nightmare “ could return on the January 2nd edition of Raw.
2. Bronson Reed to WWE
The rehiring of talent continues as Triple H looks to bring in stars that he utilized under his management. Bronson Reed returned on the December 19th episode of Monday Night Raw.
Reed assisted The Miz after he defeated Dexter Lumis via a Winner Takes All Match. The superstar complimented “ The A-Lister” on Twitter & mentioned his triumph over Kazuchida Okada at G1 Climax 32. Reed competed recently under the ring name Jonah for Impact Wrestling & NJPW! His release from WWE happened circa 2021. Reed is a former NXT Champion.
3. Is FTR teasing a WWE return?
It’s no secret that FTR time in AEW might be ending. Their contracts are up on April 2023. Both Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler could be eyeing a WWE return. The popular AdFreeShows announced a brand-new podcast called FTR with Dax Harwood. They confirmed it was not replacing William Regal’s podcast titled Gentleman Villian Podcast. The reasons why Regal’s show is finishing up have to do with Regal coming back to WWE. AdFreeShows is a part of Conrad Thompson’s podcast network.
Dax guested on the show to promote his new program. He did a Q & session, and Harwood discussed his relationship with Cody Rhodes. There was heat between FTR & Cody for past comments he said during an interview on Sam Roberts Podcast before the tag team signed with AEW.
Paraphrased quote: “Before I came to AEW, I had a big issue with Cody, which I’ve talked to Cody about. He did a podcast with Sam Roberts & Roberts said, ‘I’m going to ask you point blank, who’s better FTR ( Revival WWE, or The Young Bucks, and without skipping a beat, Rhodes said, The Young Bucks because Harwood & Wheeler have to practice their matches & The Bucks don’t. Matt & Nick Jackson just come in and have these matches.
Dax continues, I took issue with that because in 18 years now, I’ve never practiced a match throughout my career. Harwood talked about facing Speedball Mike Bailey at WrestleCade, Harwood explained that Bailey wanted to practice, but he shut it down quickly.
Dax said the issue amid FTR & Rhodes is cleared up now. He & Cody are good friends. They talk all the time. Rhodes is a visionary & he’s intelligent. Harwood wants to work with Cody Rhodes real soon. He feels both of them can tear the house down.
4. Will fans see a Sanity Reunion coming soon?
Could a popular faction be re-emerging in WWE? Rumors intensified as Eric Young’s run with Impact Wrestling appears to be done. PWInsider first reported earlier this month about Young possibly rejoining WWE. Fans who remember the group Sanity from NXT want to see them terrorize the main roster again, but this time with Nikki.
Nikki Cross has reverted to a crazier version of herself. Cross cryptically teased fans regarding this reunion via her social media. Her cryptic photo has people talking.
Big Damo ( Killian Dain) is the real-life husband of Nikki Cross. Alexander Wolfe would represent another member. Anything remains possible with new creative.
Big Damo opened up about a WWE return & Sanity Reunion from an interview he did this year. He told Catholic, “ I never say never. Yes, things have changed. Could that be something involving where Sanity can come back? Who knows? He loves Axel Tischer & Eric Young. Big Damo saw Eric Young while he was competing at Ric Flair’s Last Match in Nashville. He spent time with Young. It proved emotional because both had not seen each other in three to four years.
If it occurs, we’ll be excited.
5. Matt Riddle’s Accusations
Many women claim that WWE Superstar Matt Riddle abused them while they dated the wrestler.
Daniela Petrow said she was an ex-girlfriend of Riddle’s who had took to Twitter in a video accusing him of abuse.
Her quote is paraphrased: “ I am sorry because I could have prevented it. If he would have stopped probably back in the Candy Cartwright days, “ she remarked, “ You think that someone would learn that you do not hurt women or abuse women? I am talking about Matt Riddle. The lady calls him by his nickname “ bro “ & she’s addressing Riddle. I told you! You may have hurt me, but I won’t stop until he stops! She promised.
Petrow would detail her convictions. She believes in Riddle’s alleged abuse cases.
Petrow named Jordan Max and said that she found out the hard way. Ivy Malibu also learned of his supposed behavior.
Malibu, an OnlyFans model, posted this emotional video response but didn’t reveal who the person she was referencing was.
Adult Film Star Jordan Maxx expressed her anger regarding her relationship with Matt Riddle via social media. She accused him of having a drug problem.
Riddle & wife, Lisa Rennie Riddle, divorced in 2021.
Recently Riddle has been written out of storylines for WWE Television. He’s reportedly in rehab after failing two recent drug tests.
