WrestleBuddy presents a spectacular edition of the Weekly Report.

WB usually highlights five headline stories, yet WWE’s annual Royal Rumble premium live event gives us even further coverage of wrestling news.

The website & this segment functions thanks to you’re loyal support.

It’s a collaborative procedure when selecting varied rumored & confirmed wrestling-related newsworthy topics.

We want to credit PWInsider, Sean Ross Sapp ( Fightful Select), and Bloomberg & the Wall Street Journal for their excellent journalism as credible sources.

Here’s our summary:

1. Matt Cardona & Chelsea Green finished with Impact? Are both possibly WWE bound?

Two former stars look to a WWE return. Rumors indicate current Impact wrestlers Matt Cardona & Chelsea Green are done with the company. PWInsider reports Cardona entered free agency after finishing up recent Impact tapings. Earlier accounts revealed Green was already under contract concerning WWE.

It appears regarding the Royal Rumble that takes place on Saturday, January 28th, & a presumption is Cardona & Green might be surprised entrants.

Cardona’s reemergence as Zack Ryder signifies this scenario is feasible. Cardona filed for the trademark & his signature “ Woo Woo Woo. “ Also, another motto was “ You know It. “ These were filed earlier this month in the general pro wrestling & sports entertainment use and merchandise categories.

Green is waiting for creative direction from WWE related to her return. She closed down her OnlyFans account multiple months back. The Major Pod brand limited production in correlation with Green’s new merchandise because of her signing. Chelsea had completed contractual obligations for Impact in October & NWA in November.

Cardona is an ex-Intercontinental, United States, & Tag Team Champion for WWE. Since his April 15th, 2020 exit, He won the NWA Championship & Impact Digital Media Champion.

Green has wrestled in Impact, NWA, & Ring of Honor since being released on April 15th, 2021. She held the Knockouts Championship once & an Impact Knockouts Tag Team title holder.

I feel like others-they will show up this weekend at Royal Rumble.

Mark Briscoe wrestles in AEW

Finally, a Briscoe wrestles on Network TV. Following his brother’s (Jay Briscoe) who’s tragic passing occurred just last week, Mark Briscoe competed against a mutual rival Jay Lethal on the January 25th edition of AEW Dynamite in one exceptional main event that saw Mark defeat Lethal via the Jaydriver. This move was Jay Briscoe’s signature finishing move.

Ring of Honor recorded a special tribute show last week showing various wrestlers paying tribute to Jay. An executive at Warner Bros.-Discovery wouldn’t authorize it for All-Elite Wrestling over a past tweet that stirred up controversy. Thankfully, their stance changed & the company was permitted to let Mark wrestle. I echo what everyone’s sentiments said, AEW’s video tribute to Jay Briscoe proved beautiful.

3. Kenny Omega was pulled from AEW TV due to Visa issues

AEW star Kenny Omega was absent from this week’s edition of Dynamite. Lately, fans viewed Omega & The Young Bucks winning the AEWs Trios Championships for a second time circa January 11, Dynamite episode. Fans appeared concerned that he suffered a possible injury was the reason why the IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion didn’t compete or have any segments.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reported that Kenny Omega is dealing with visa issues. This situation prevented him from appearing & taking part in the Jay Briscoe tribute show. He voiced his desire to be involved, but Visa troubles stopped it.

Sapp added it might be a lengthy process for Omega to resolve these circumstances.

4. McMahon facing more lawsuits

WWE chairman Vince McMahon cannot escape additional lawsuits since his return to the company he founded. Two of these allegations were made public and accused him of breaching fiduciary duties & hamstringing WWE by altering specific bylaws.

Bloomberg reported that another group of investors is suing the executive over his paying to cover up alleged sexual assault accusations going back fifteen years. WWE shareholders Carole Casale & Chrystal Lavalle are leading a third lawsuit against McMahon.

The investors wanted to sever this case from the confined action where they could maintain bylaw-related claims alive. This dispute involves three groups of shareholders. The Wall Street Journal previously disclosed McMahon paid several women nearly $ 20 million concerning non-disclosure agreements.

McMahon & WWE have yet to make a court appearance. However, on January 17th, securities filing exhibited McMahon’s repeal of the most contentious changes & other aspects, including restoring power to the board. Such a filing prompted a dispute between shareholders.

Let’s quickly review these: Deleware’s Chancery Court accused McMahon because of his timely return to WWE regarding the expiring media rights while forcing his way into leveraging a threat to withhold support for potential deals that did not involve him.

Stephanie resigned as co-CEO when Vince became Chairman again. Two investors sued McMahon, including the Police & Fire Retirement System of the City of Detroit.

Last week, The Wall Street Journal declared Vince agreed to a multimillion-dollar legal settlement with ex-referee Rita Chatterton, who accused him of rape in the 80s.

What’s next legally for Vince?

5. Cody Rhodes & Rhea Ripley win their respective Royal Rumble Matches:

“ The American Nightmare “ Cody Rhodes entered as the 30th & final entrant in this year’s Royal Rumble match. He eliminated Gunther to win! Rhodes will challenge the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns at WrestleMania.

Rhea Ripley entered No. 1 in the Women’s Royal Rumble Match. She eliminated Liv Morgan to win & She’ll either face Raw Women’s Champion Bianca Belair or SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania.

6. Chelsea Green & Nia Jax return at the Royal Rumble

Two familiar faces emerged during the Women’s Royal Rumble Matchup. Chelsea Green entered at 20 & Nia Jax was the 30th & final entrant. Rhea Ripley eliminated Green quickly. Eleven of the remaining female superstars had eliminated Nia Jax.

7. Sami Zayn turns on The Bloodline & they attack him.

We saw that after Roman Reigns was successful in his title defense against Kevin Owens via The Royal Rumble. The Bloodline brutally attacked Kevin Owens. Roman ordered Sami Zayn to hit KO with a steel chair. Instead, Zayn nails Roman with it back first. The Tribal Chief & family retaliated by beating Sami down. Jey Uso disobeyed Reign’s commands and left in disgust.
