3. Matt Hardy & Private Party
If you discount the Kenny Omega debut into Impact, which was pre announced and created the whole Forbidden Door, then Matt Hardy and Private Party were the first unannounced debuts into Impact from AEW. Even to this day Private Party are still the only talents to turn up on Impact who have no history with the company.
This was a big shock at the time, especially Matt Hardy with how his exit from the company went. However the moment was encapsulated with a pretty fine promo from Matt and it was also at a time when Impact needed a few more tag Teams. So if Private Party couldn’t get air time on AEW then this seemed like a pretty good fit for everyone involved.
This led to Private Party having a pretty damn good match against Chris Sabin and James Storm where after interference from Jerry Lynn (who was sitting ringside with Tony Khan), Private Party earned a shot to face The Good Brothers at No Surrender. The match became a 3 way with Sabin and Storm getting into the match also, however there was a moment even before the match where I felt, Private Party could win this and become the new Impact Tag Team Champions. That didn’t happen however it shows just how competitive they looked and the fact that Impact let that thought enter your head, shows how good Private Party looked.
