2. Kenny Omega
At the beginning there were two men called Kenny Omega and Don Callis. Winter Is Coming 2020 is where the Forbidden door all started, Omega won the AEW World Title and then turned up on Impact Wrestling the following week to address the world on what happened. This was a big surprise as many people began to fantasy book dream matches we could see down the line. Omega was the first of many wrestlers to go from company to company, then in Impact we would see many other changes inside of Impact Wrestling through 2021 also.
Omega after winning the AEW World Title (and being the AAA Mega Champion) headed for the Impact World Title. The champion at that time Rich Swan had a fantastic back and forth with Omega (and Callis on the microphone) but came away empty handed at Rebellion. This left Omega holding all 4 titles (as the TNA Title was also on the line).
In his 8 month run in Impact we saw some great character work from Omega (many say more than he shows in AEW), this brought others around him closer to the title (Josh Alexander is a great example). No matter what you think of Omega he always puts on great matches, you always feel like you’ve got your money’s worth at the end of the night, Slammiversary against Sami Callihan was an absolute barn brawler. His title reign (to me) was really enjoyable as he played the cowardly heel incredibly well, it’s just a shame it wasn’t an Impact talent who finally got the better of him to cap it all of perfectly.
