10 WORST SummerSlam Matches
The dark side of Summer’s biggest event
7. Bray Wyatt vs Kane (SummerSlam 2013)
In the PG era, there are few hardcore wrestling concepts that get fans as excited as fire. Imagines of Mick Foley, Terry Funk and The Dudleys putting themselves or others through the flames have become iconic – this match did not quite live up to that.
Bray Wyatt progressed to the main roster with lots of hype and his first match was against in a Ring Of Fire Match versus Kane. It sounds good on paper – a cool match concept, impressive way for Wyatt to debut and featured Kane who was a great tie-in to the stipulation but in reality it was a flop we’d all prefer to forget.
As Kane was entering the end of his in-ring days, he was more lumbering and could not draw as much excitement and legitimacy from a crowd. The match more centred around Rowan and Harper trying to invade but failing. In the end, they got in however, completely ruining the whole stipulation as well as making it seem Bray needed help in his first match. I mean, at least if someone was set on fire, it would be interesting.
