9. The Godwinns
WWE history is littered with simpleton Southern farmer gimmicks; Uncle Elmer, Festus and Trevor Murdoch are just some of those hillbillies and right up there are The Godwinns.
Debuting in late 1992, Tex Slanzenger and Shanghai Pierce were mainly a B-team duo, appearing on WCW’s secondary shows. Both wore very traditional ring gear with Pierce donning a mask. They wrestled a few PPV matches all which they lost except when the Lethal Lottery drew them against each other at BattleBowl ‘93. Here, Pierce and Rick Rude defeated Tex Slazenger and Marcus Bagwell. The team would regularly put over higher tag teams on the WCW totem pole before leaving for the WWF.
