Vs. Batista – WWE Championship (Summerslam 2008)
Before Drax and Peacemaker made it to the big screen, they collided in the squared circle. Ironically this event would have the tagline of this year’s event was “The Biggest Blockbuster of the Summer,” which both men did go on to star in big Summer blockbusters years later. It was also crazy to believe that this became their first meeting for six years in the company and three years of being the top superstars in their respected brands.
This match is hard-hitting as hard-hitting can get with a mix of the old school. Just two big egos collided, not allowing each other to get the upper hand. Great to see a big match feel so crucial without having a title on the line. One of the greatest and scariest spots occurs when Batista reverses Cena’s leg drop into a Batista Bomb, resulting in a broken neck but luckily nothing too serious. An impressive first-time match of a great feud that is not over saturated like Cena’s other rivalries.
