5 Takeaways from AEW Dynamite (June 26th 2021)
Uniquely on a Saturday this week, AEW Dynamite again took place in front of live fans with the main attraction being the main event match for the AEW World Heavyweight championship as Jungle Boy challenged for Kenny Omega’s title belt. On top of this, we had an attraction face-to-face interaction between Pinnacle manager and JCP icon Tully Blanchard and ex-LAX manager and WCW legend Konnan.
‘Hangman’ Page As Omega’s Next Challenger
Despite there being no AEW Dynamite in the regular slot this week, the promotion still managed to tease a huge storyline going forward. On an episode of The Young Bucks’s Being The Elite YouTube series, Adam Page is shown to have visions of the AEW title, perhaps hinting at Page soon challenging for the title belt.
On this week’s edition, Adam Page managed to beat Powerhouse Hobbs after having feuded with Team Taz for the past few weeks. In the match, after having put up a solid fight, Hobbs realised he needed illegal aid to put away ‘Hangman’ Page – trying to use the FTW title on the former AEW World Tag Team champion before Brian Cage intervened. Page then brought the fight to Hobbs with a flurry of offence before dispatching the muscly behemoth with the Dead Eye.
The use of old finisher the Dead Eye to win could further illustrate a further push towards the main event scene with Page garnering some new signature moves for his run on top.
