5 Takeaways from AEW Dynamite (June 26th 2021)
Jungle Boy’s Breakthrough Bout
It is little secret that Jungle Boy is a near-guaranteed shoo-in for a future AEW star. It is evident that it is not quite his time yet but has all the skills to be a top guy, with the company’s faith in him proved by their buying of the rights to Baltimora’s ‘Tarzan Boy’ song to use as his theme. Although Jack Perry has had previous great displays proving his ability against both Chris Jericho and Darby Allin, this performance is one that people should take note of.
In the main event for the AEW World title, Kenny Omega defended his belt against Jungle Boy Jack Perry, with the challenger – not looking out of place – going toe-to-toe with the Canadian multi-champion for 17 minutes. Despite the result never being in doubt, Perry nearly got the win and title belt multiple times but only to ultimately come up short, being put away with the terminating maneuvre the One-Wingéd Angel.
Another tremendous showing for the young performer, he has proven he has the will to be a star, with so many years to hone his craft even more on his way to the top. I think in a few years, we’ll be looking at the guy who may run the wrestling world.
